8.00am – 5.30pm
1st Prize $350 2nd Prize $140
6-a-Side History
In 2008/9 we ran our first six-a-side day that involved 5 teams competing in a round robin format that culminated in 2 semi-finals and a final. Players formed their own teams and entered the competition as part of that team. While exhausted at the end of the day, we found our winner and it was considered a big success.
2009/10 – Franchised Teams
In true IPL spirit this year we will offer each of the 5 teams to our club sponsors to run, love and reward them as only Franchise Owners can.
Player Information
I’d like to play, what do I have to do?
If you would like to participate in this year’s 6-a-side day you need to register in the Player Draft and pay the draft entry fee of $20.
What’s the Player Draft?
To play in this year’s 6-a-Side competition you must be available to play for any Franchise (team) that drafts you. The Player Draft, like a raffle, will be conducted on the Saturday evening prior to the event and will spread the cricketing talent of the club evenly. Players will be distributed into different pools prior to the draft with equal selections then being made from each pool by each team (example; ‘Marquee’ players, ‘wicket-keepers’, ‘1st-2nd grade all-rounders’, ‘3rd-4th grade all-rounders’ and ‘Juniors’).
But I’ve already got my team sorted?
Sorry, that’s not happening this year. If you want to play you have to go into the player draft.
How and when can I enter?
You must complete an official Six-a-Side entry form (beware of imitations). These official entry forms will be available from the Clubhouse Bar from the evening of Saturday February 20 (after the day’s play) and entries will only be accepted with full payment.
Who and how many of us can enter?
HPPCC members will take priority as entries are limited to 30 senior and 5 junior players (squads of 7). Any person wishing to play that is not a member of the club will be considered only after HPPCC numbers are known.
When is the Player Draft?
The Player Draft will be held on Saturday March 6 from 6.30pm-8.00pm during which time each Franchise Owner (or his delegate) will draw his team from the available player pool.
Do I have to attend the draft?
Yes. All players must be in attendance at the Player Draft to remain eligible for drafting otherwise players from a reserve pool will be drafted. Team shirts will be distributed and event specific rules will also be discussed at this event.
Wait a minute, what’s the Reserve Pool?
The Reserve Pool will contain players that register and pay after the available 35 player spots are filled. Or players that somehow manage to register without making payment. It’s unlikely our club will have any in this category though. Draft places will not be held under any circumstances without full payment – you’re kidding yourself if you think you’re in but haven’t paid.
Are you kidding me? Is there anything else I need to know?
Yes. All players are to make themselves aware of the competition rules and any prize-money becomes the property of the Franchise Owner; so get to know your owner well. And be cordial, well mannered and grateful to your Franchise Owner, they have already helped the club significantly this year and they are doing it again. It might be time to actually say “thanks for supporting our club, what could I do to help your business?”
To the Sponsor
Last year’s 6-a-side day was very successful and all people involved enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s a big fun day! This year, we would like to combine this fun event with some fundraising for the club and promotion for you. We’d like you to get involved.
To this end we are inviting our significant club sponsors to purchase one of the 5 teams; to be your own Franchise Owner. The cost per team is $250 and all team players will be decked out in a playing t-shirt with your company logo on it. You will have a team tent that you can decorate as you please. The depth of involvement with your team is up to you. What decorations, gifts and luxuries you choose to provide your team as franchise owner is up to you. This will be a day of pure one-upmanship and we hope you will bring some good ideas with you. It will certainly make for a fun day.
We will provide each franchise: A team of 7 (you can be a part of the 7 if you want to play) including one junior player, team logo shirts, tent, chairs, table, esky with ice and 36 bottles of water.
Franchise Owner/Sponsor provides: anything and everything else…
Note: (1) We’d like you or a delegate in attendance at the Player Draft on the Saturday evening (see Player notes) and (2) your tent is you and your team’s responsibility. It will be available in the clubhouse on event day however it must be erected and dismantled by you and your team (the players will be made aware of this).
If your team wins any prize money, it will be yours (the franchise owner) to do with as you wish.
